
I was taken by the ancient idea of the golden ratio:1.61803399…..farmers here often grow sunflowers, and their seeds grow in a Fibonacci sequence. Many plants arrange their growth in this way, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21,…The spiral is a Fibonacci sequence. The painting’s dimensions are roughly 1:1.6180339…I borrowed the figures from William Blake and Maxfield Parrish. They are built in relief before the painting is begun. Depending upon the light in the room, they can change. In gentle, diffused light, they are practically invisible. The ratios I’m playing with are a wonderful hint at the Intelligent Universe. ἀεὶ ὁ θεὸς γεωμετρεῖ
